Anecdote (origins unknown)

Many years back there was a very powerful and rich King in India. He was leading a life of pleasure and there was no luxury available in the whole world that eluded him. He at the same time was magnanimous at heart. He would ensure welfare of his subjects. Everything was going great for this king until one day, an invader attacked his kingdom. The invading King had heard stories of luxuries and pleasures available in his neighbouring kingdom through the merchants who ran the trade. The invading king became curious and this curiosity soon grew into lustful desire to acquire the prosperous neighbour.

The King faced the invaders bravely however in the end , he lost the battle. He was forced to flee with few men. They ran deep into a forest to save their lives. The forest did provide them a refuge, food and safety. As days passed, King's started to brood. He was initially feeling angry in the start , then he became sad and with the passage of time , he grew helpless. Seeing such state of their King, the men were also demoralised. One day the King's men encountered a traveller and they stuck up a conversation with him.

King's men- "O! traveller, where are you coming from & where are you headed to "

Traveller-"I am coming from Sansara Kingdom and now going back to my home".

King's men had their eyes lit up as they heard that the traveller is coming from their kingdom. So they asked him as to how is the kingdom.

Traveller-"The Kingdom is alright considering that it recently witnessed an attack. Its citizens are unhappy that their loved king is gone but they are managing. The business is doing good but the best part is the Fakir Baba. It is because of this FAKIR Baba , i made so much money. He has divine powers. By the way who are you guys and what are you doing in such dreaded forest"?

King's Men- "We are also travellers like you, please tell us how to meet this divine baba as we are also headed to Sansara kingdom".

Traveller shared the details and went ahead. He told them that Fakir baba resides outside of the fort away from the hustle bustle of the town. The king's men rushed to share the exchange with the traveller. Upon hearing the traveller's account, King got more sad. One of King's men insisted that they should meet the Fakir baba and that may change their fortunes. The king finally reluctantly agreed upon the insistence of his men. The next day, all men including the King moved to the location of Fakir Baba. They all were in disguise as travellers.

As they reached Fakir baba's abode, the Fakir upon seeing the king immediately rose and greeted King.

Fakir Baba-"O! King, I am happy to see you alive".

King- surprised that he had been recognised despite his disguise. He was now sure that this Fakir holds divine powers. He bowed and said-"Baba! I am sad and with my men , I am living in a very bad state. Please help me".

Fakir Baba closed his eyes, he went into a trance and after 15 minutes opened his eyes. Everyone was looking at him.

Fakir Baba-"O! King, one cannot meddle with Allah's decision but I will leave a prophesy with you. This prophesy has come straight from heavens above and it will help you".

King bowed, kissed hand of Fakir Baba and accepted the two chits.

Fakir Baba-"Please keep these chits of paper safe with you. Read the first one (marked) when you reach back your safe place today".

King-"What about the second chit"?

Fakir Baba-"Open that only when the prophesy of first chit has come true. You may leave now as it is not safe here".

King again bowed and left with his men. He reached the safe place in the forest and quickly opened the first chit which had written - "यह वक़्त बदल जाएगा"(This time will change). The King felt reassured and slept peacefully first time in months. As time passed , the King accepted the current situation and started enlisting men. He now had full faith in the prophesy and thus was knew that his time will come. Soon, he was reached by his ally Kings who wanted to support and end the Sansara Kingdom's tyrant rule. All fell in place and the King regained power.

He again had his kingdom and started leading a life of luxury. The subjects were happy too as their beloved king was back. One day the King remembered that the Fakir baba had also shared the second chit which was to be opened when his time changes. Now was the time and thus the king opened the second chit which he had preserved as a precious gem till now.

The second chit read " यह वक़्त भी बदल जाएगा।" The king laughed . The laughter made royal guards feel weird. But for the King it was a big lesson that nothing is to be taken as granted.

Change Is Imminent

As the sine wave moves from crest(high point) to trough (low point) at regular intervals so does life. This is termed as Maya in life where if there is happiness , sadness will follow. No one emotion or circumstance will stay as constant-change is imminent. This was understood by King through Fakir's prophesy and we need to realise it too.

Cycle Of Life : Filled With Ups & Downs

Some may take this a caution or fear causing message but the positive me tells me and should tell everyone that if now we are now at lowest point of our lives, then very very soon you are going to be at your high point. Thus it is a time to REJOICE. Hold on! the story will not end here because if your REJOICE In happy times and sulk in SAD times, you have not learnt your lesson. The lesson that lord wants all of us to learn while walking the maya of life is to have an EQUILIBRIUM at all stages of life. This is how we can escape this unreal world and reach the real Joy & Bliss.

सुखदु:खे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ |ततो युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि || 38||

The above verse is from Bhagwad Geeta and it means that "Fight for the sake of duty, treating alike happiness and distress, loss and gain, victory and defeat. Fulfilling your responsibility in this way, you will never incur sin".

Friends , this life is our kurkshethra - our battleground. It is our duty to fight. I tell you to fight-fight and that is it. Win-Loss will happen but that does not deter us from the fight.

Remember the Sine Wave, enjoy the ride till lasts. The bliss and joy be yours!!
