Human Beings are capable of achieving any milestone that they put their sights upon. This is a proven fact which is proven when we look at the major events that have taken place in history of sports, military etc. I will mention three of them that inspire me:-
1965 Indo-Pak war - In Indian town of Khem Karan, CQMH Abdul Hamid, PVC(Posthumous) displayed raw courage to destroy the myth that the American built Patton Tanks were invincible. This inspired Indian Army to go all out during the “Operation Asal Uttar”. The result thereafter was that 100 Pakistani tanks were destroyed against 10 of Indian Army tanks. The town was named 'Patton Nagar' that stood testimony to the fact that even tanks are nothing in front of the human spirit.
Battle of Saragrahi witnessed 21 brave Sikhs repelling successfully an attack from 10,000 Afghan warriors. These brave martyrs achieved status of larger than life warriors. Please read about this account and you will know that “It is not the Size of You in the fight but the Size of Fight in You which decides the outcome”.
Explained: Why the Battle of Saragarhi continues to inspire India & world, 124 years on
Sub Four Minute Mile-Roger Bannister was told by psychologists that “human body” is not capable to run a mile under 4 min & attempting it can also result in death.
This event in history of sports showed that the power of mind can transcend boundaries, overcome obstacles and operate in what we can call as a paranormal state. Roger knew this and used it while breaking the four minute barrier to run a mile in 1954.
When your body gives up-your mind takes over
This is an ability present in all of us-we just need to summon it. I am sure that we all have experienced it in some way or the other. I have done it many times, especially during my time in INDIAN ARMY. I vividly remember during our academy race back of 40 KM with full battle gear(15 Kg) during my cadet days. After 15 KM in my race, my body gave up but I still kept going on. This was because I knew that GIVING UP IS NOT AN OPTION. It was even surprising that all cadets during the race back could sing, laugh and make jokes(or sometimes fight :) ) during the run despite our physical condition. Our minds would have assumed that we are enjoying this activity and kept pushing our bodies so much so that we put one foot after another. The mind took over our bodies till we all reached the final 40 KM mark.
What does not kill you makes you stronger.....(Friedrich Nietzche)
Hope the above accounts will make you realise the spirit in you and unleashes it.
